Reverse balances are the goal of many people. Before we move on to your dream handstand, however, we will build a headstand.

The headstand (Sirasana) is called the queen of asanas. Inverted positions are unique due to the reversal of the direction of the force of gravity on the body. The blood circulation then changes and the upper body receives a greater supply of pure, oxygenated blood. This nourishes the brain, thyroid and parathyroid glands. Due to this, the benefits of standing on the head include: regeneration of the nervous system and regulation of hormones. Increased fluid flow in the body also stimulates the work of the blood and lymphatic systems. In addition to pro-health, standing on the head also allows you to face fear. It adds self-confidence, vitality and energy.
On the part of the motor apparatus, Sirasana strengthens the muscles of the arms, back and ‘core’. It teaches body awareness and mind discipline because finding balance in this position requires a great deal of concentration.

The workshop will include 2 modules:

  • 11:00 – 13:00 1. Just getting started
  • 14:00 – 16:00 2. I’m already standing on my head

During them, you will:

  • work with the breath and diaphragm,
  • warm up the body in the vinyasa yoga style,
  • activate the deep muscles and buttocks, we will strengthen the arms and core,
  • reduce the fear working with exercises preparing to stand on your head,
  • learn two techniques of standing on your head and different ways of getting into a position,
  • learn what to pay attention to to keep this position safe,
  • calm down and stretch,
  • relax to the sounds of koshi bells.


– 11:00-13:00 Module 1. Just getting started
No experience is required for the first module. Also, do not be afraid that you are too weak. This part is about preparing and strengthening to stand upright. The level is suitable for everyone. We work with respect for our body and within our scope. It is also not necessary to make a full headstand position if the stress is too much.

– 13:15-15:15 Module 2. I’m already standing on my head

On the second module we will add work “in the air”. The name of the module means that if someone already has a stable practice of standing on their head, they can skip the first module and find something interesting for themselves here. We will add dynamic elements to increase strength, balance and isolate the work of individual parts of the body.

This part will be a perfect complement to the first one. Each person after the first module will be able to cope with the second. If you fail to stand on your head during the first part of the workshop, you will learn about the next, slightly more difficult strengthening and preparation exercises, and then you will again fight to turn the world upside down.

The next planned modules will include strengthening the practice of standing on the head and learning the next steps: standing on the forearms and on the hands.
